  • assistant housekeeping manager

    Hotel Debrett is in the centre of Auckland’s re-emerging inner city entertainment precinct.  It lies at the nexus of restaurants, bars and cafes spanning the wider Shortland/High Street Quarter.

    Comprising of 25 suites and rooms, a 50-seat restaurant, two bars and multiple function spaces.  Hotel Debrett has the potential to become one of Auckland’s premier restaurant and bar destinations.

    We are now recruiting for an experienced and team orientated individual to join our dynamic Housekeeping team as an Assistant Executive Housekeeper.

    We are looking for someone who has:
    • 4 or more years’ experience as an Assistant Executive Housekeeper
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Strong administrative skills including ordering and rostering
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Front Office Experience
    • Computer and PMS systems literacy – Clarity
    • Experience in managing maintenance issues
    • Experience in managing suppliers and contractors
    • Excellent grooming
    • Has Train the Trainer Certificate Level 1 and Level 2
    • First Aid Certificate
    • Liquor License Controllers Certificate
    • General Managers License
    • Flexibility to work various shifts and hours

    The successful Candidate will be responsible for the following:

    Assists the Executive Housekeeper in the overall management of the Housekeeping department’s function, the supervision of all levels of staff quality and cost control, administrative duties and special assignments.

    Assists the Front Office Manager in the day to day operational functions of our guest services roles.

    Ensures maximum efficiency and consistency by means of ongoing, thorough inspections in guest rooms and corridors, public areas and back of house areas.

    Helps realise departmental standards related to impeccable cleanliness and personalised service to our guests.

    Motivates team members, promotes teamwork, develops incentive plans, and maintains a positive work relationship inside and outside the department.

    As part of this role, you will be the main point of contact for our guests and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the reception desk including making reservations and performing concierge duties.

    We are looking for someone who has:
    • proven excellent customer service skills
    • +1 year experience in a five star hotel or equivalent industry
    • flexibility to work various hours and shifts (inc. evenings & weekends)
    • strong administrative and operational skills
    • computer and PMS systems literacy (knowledge of THS Phoenix/Clarity would be advantageous)
    • numeric/cashiering skills
    • excellent grooming
    • team player
    • drivers license essential

    First Aid and General Managers certificates would be an advantage.
